Aims

Akeley Wood is an independent co-educational day school for some nine hundred pupils from twelve months to eighteen years of age. The school is based on three separate sites between Milton Keynes and Buckingham, each within easy reach of the others. All three sites are organised to meet the ever-changing needs of their specific age groups, and all are based in quite magnificent and beautiful buildings in tranquil, peaceful countryside. Teaching is in maximum class sizes of twenty, (examination groups are often much smaller). Although all three schools have their own location they all share our very special, caring family atmosphere.

At Akeley Wood we believe that pupils should develop their individual talents and personal qualities in whatever direction they may lie, placing a particular emphasis on high academic achievement as well as encouraging excellence in Art, Music, Drama and Sport.

Most importantly, however, we hope that pupils will genuinely enjoy and value their time here, and will gain not only the best possible qualifications, but also a sense of purpose, a belief in themselves, firm friendships and a caring attitude towards those around them.  We are schooling for life.

So Akeley Wood offers a friendly and purposeful environment, with small classes and enthusiastic teaching, where good habits of work and independence of mind can flourish. This is a school without pretension, but with a happy and civilised atmosphere and a demonstrable record of success.
