The outstanding achievement of Elizabeth Howett

'I joined Akeley in Year 5, struggling with English. Since then, through hard work and the continued help and support of the dedicated staff at Akeley, I have improved vastly. In Year   9, I was predicted mostly Cs and a few Bs, in the end I managed to obtain Cs, Bs and an A* in Maths, which has allowed me to do the A Levels of my choosing. I would never have been able to achieve these grades if it weren't for the dedicated team of Teachers at Akeley Wood.'

Sheila Handley, Head of the Tutorial Programme at Akeley Wood School, runs a Tutorial Group in every year group, which caters especially for children with specific learning difficulties. This is staffed by a team of experienced specialist teachers, who are dedicated to helping children just like Elizabeth.
