AKELEY WOOD TRIUMPH AT THE TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGE DAY!
Posted on 09 March 2010AKELEY WOOD TRIUMPH AT THE TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGE DAY!
On Monday March 1st the DT department took 5 teams of 4 pupils down to Aylesbury College to compete in the annual Rotary Club Technology Challenge Day. We joined up with numerous other teams from most of the other secondary schools in Aylesbury Vale. This year the teams were asked to design and build a beacon with a flashing light on top. A simple task you might be thinking but with the few components and materials available to the pupils added to the limited time allowed it turned out to be a complex problem.
In the end however we did have some considerable success. The upper sixth group took on the advanced task and won. We were able to come both first and second in the intermediate task and our other two teams did really well gaining valuable experience that can be used next year and we all had a great time.
Our winners won prizes and the school was awarded £100 for each of the 1st places achieved. And finally Mr Cochrane won some liquid refreshment for the teachers group’s excellent solution to the same problem.
Well done to all of the pupils who took part. You did us proud!
