Akeley Wood Junior School cuts the turf

Mrs Page, Headteacher at Akeley Wood Junior School was joined by pupils from Nursery to Year 5, to celebrate the commencement of the brand new Georgian Style Sports Hall. Everyone donned a hard hat and spade and ‘dug the first turf’ in preparation for this wonderful new facility.

Lauren Smith Year 4, was at the turf cutting ceremony and said: “It’s really exciting because we can do sport regardless of the weather with the new Sports Hall, It’s going to be spacious and new and clean and fresh – a new learning space that we can use for lots of things, not just sport – maybe even a disco or party!”.

Mrs Page commented, “It’s wonderful to see that our Sports Hall is becoming a reality.
