Junior School – Nursery
Summer Term News
Easter was late this year, but we all had a great fun celebrating in a variety of ways.
Ladybirds made their own Easter eggs and Easter cards for their Parents.
As well as looking at Easter, Ladybirds 2 also looked at their Family photos. We also got messy exploring textures with jelly and other resources such as pom poms, oranges and raisins.
Caterpillars were very creative doing some Easter painting and even used their fingers. Lisa enjoyed telling stories to the Caterpillar children this month.
In Butterflies we had some exciting Easter crafts, We made cards and created spring pictures. We also worked through our Easter mathematics books.
Spring had sprung in Ladybirds 1 where they created their own spring flowers.
Ladybirds 2, enjoyed exploring water play inside and outside too. The ladybirds used a variety of tools to explore this. The ladybirds also did some large scale drawing, using crayons and pencils to create various marks.
We made sheep in Caterpillars, using cotton wool and paper. We also looked at the season of spring and discussed what kind of animals we may see in spring.
In Butterflies we started practicing for our Sport’s Day. We listened carefully to the instructions given by Mr. Lemon. We also had a go at running and jumping into the long jump pit!
Using some of our senses, the Ladybirds 1 enjoyed some sensory play. We used a variety of messy play activities and listened to some dancing songs while we watched our sensory cube light up. This was a busy month and we welcomed lots of new faces to our Ladybirds group.
Ladybirds 2 were busy creating exciting things for their Dad’s for Father’s day. It was great to get the children using their feet and hands to create something special for their Dad’s. We also enjoyed using the new baby toys which Mrs. Page bought us this month.
The Caterpillars had fun getting messy with shaving foam and used a variety of tools to explore with. Working as a team has been a big focus in Caterpillars and we have been encouraging the Caterpillars to help one another out.
The Butterflies also enjoyed looking after the caterpillars this year and watched them turn into Butterflies. For our last Forest School session, we were lucky enough to have a bonfire and we toasted marshmallows.
We would like to welcome Melanie Wash to Ladybirds 2 as the Room Manager.
Melanie joins us with over 17 years’ experience and is ready for a new challenge.
We would also like to say a big ‘Hello’ to Nicola Boddy as she returns to her position of Nursery Manager from Maternity leave.
We wish all of the Butterflies 1 Good Luck in their new Schools in September.
We hope that everyone has a fabulous Summer and we look forward to seeing you all in September.
We would like to thank everyone for their support this year, especially with the weekly observations you put on tapestry. We love hearing what you have been up to at the weekend, so please continue to updating your child’s activities and achievements
Once your child is in Caterpillars and Butterflies they will share this information as part of their group time.
Also, anything you upload goes towards their own learning journey, so if they achieve something at home, which they don’t do at Nursery it will be recorded.
Thank You again
