Senior School Entry

We are looking forward to welcoming students for September 2020.  There are numerous opportunities for coming to see us in action.  The process is below and we hope to welcome you soon.

Coming for a visit:

Meet the Head
If you would like to come and visit us on a normal working day, we have Meet the Head events on Fridays each half term. During the Autumn Term, we have numerous dates:

Friday 11th October

Friday 8th November

Friday 22nd November

Friday 6th December

Our Meet the Head events take place on a completely normal working day so that you can see teaching and learning in action and experience the vibrancy of the school first-hand. Mrs Silver, Head of Tile House Mansion and Mr Antwis, Principal, in charge of all three Akeley Wood School Campuses, welcome you and are available during the morning should you have any questions. Our students take you on tours so that you can talk to them about life at Akeley from their perspective. For those interested in Year 7 or 8 entry, we commence at Tile House Mansion at 9.30am and then move along to our Akeley Wood House Campus where we teach our GCSE and A level/BTEC programmes from Years 9 – 13. You are invited to join us at 10.30am at Akeley Wood House if you are looking for entry into Years 9 – 12.
Please note that our Meet the Head events and our Open Mornings welcome the whole family. Some parents choose to come alone at first and then bring their children and others come as a family from the offset. It is entirely your choice, either way we promise a warm welcome and a very open and honest introduction to our school.
You are always welcome to visit and have a tour on any other working day to suit – please just let us know and we can accommodate you.

Open Mornings

Saturday 28th September 2019

Saturday 7th March 2020

These events commence at 9.30am at our Akeley Wood House Campus.

Year 7 or 8 Entry:
Following a presentation about the School by Mr Antwis, you will be invited to have a short tour of Akeley Wood House and meet our teachers and students, before moving along to our Tile House Mansion Campus for a fuller, more detailed tour of our base for Years 7 and 8. You are of course very welcome to spend as much time on each campus as you wish, but we have found that parents looking for Year 7/8 tend to want to have a briefer tour of the Year 9 upwards campus and spend longer at Tile House. It is entirely up to you.

At Tile House Mansion, Mrs Silver and her team of staff will be on hand to show you the richness of an Akeley Wood education and talk to you about our unique Year 7 and 8 structure. Our eager Year 7 and 8 students will be delighted to take you on a tour of their building and beautiful grounds and talk to you about the benefits of enjoying senior school life in their own campus.

Year 9 – 12 Entry:
Following a presentation about the School by Mr Antwis, you will be invited to have a full tour of our Akeley Wood House Campus including our Sixth Form Centre. Our Heads of Departments and Head of Sixth Form will be on hand to talk to you about the examination syllabi and how we engage and challenge our students to achieve the best results possible.

Please call our admissions team to book a place at these events or make an appointment for a private tour. Tel. 01280 828122
