Akeley Musician and Young Musician of the Year

On Tuesday, 7th May the Akeley Musician and Young Musician of the Year Competition took place at Akeley Wood House. This was a fantastic evening of entertainment, featuring some exceptional performances from musicians in both the Junior and Senior School.

We are pleased to announce that Rory H, Year 9, gained the title of ‘Akeley Musician of the Year 2019‘. Congratulations to Rory for this excellent and emotional piano performance of Chopin’s Nocturne in Eb Major.

A huge congratulations also goes to George H, Year 11, who was runner up. George performed his own composition on the drums and the judge said “I have never heard so many tones and colours coming from the drums before.”

Liam L and Jake A from the Junior School both gained the title of ‘Akeley Young Musician of the Year 2019‘. Jake performed a sonata on the xylophone and Liam played an exciting and lively piece of the saxophone.

Congratulations to all who performed. It was an incredible evening of superb high standard, with a huge variety of music from over twenty musicians from Year 4 to Year 13.
