Dry Point Etchings

Year 7

Theses dry point etchings were done by Year 7 pupils and I am delighted with the results.  It is usually a technique reserved for Year 9s and upwards, but I felt that the Year 7s were up to the challenge and they more than met it.   The pupils scratched into the surface of some acetate sheet, essentially drawing their insect with a point.  The acetate is then rubbed with printing ink and wiped clean, leaving the ink only in the grooves (known as intaglio printing).  Next special paper is soaked and blotted.  It is then lined up on the inked acetate and rolled through the printing press.
