Duke Of Edinburgh Award Scheme

Bronze Award Assessment

Last weekend, in a very sunny White Peak District, Derbyshire, 55 year 10 students undertook their DofE Bronze Assessment expedition. Setting off at 7.30am from Akeley Wood House, spirits were high in anticipation of their two days of walking and a night of under the stars. After dropping them off at one the starting points, students walked in teams for 4 – 6 hours, before arriving at camp.  They all did amazingly well in the heat of the day, and spirits remained high on their return.  It was lovely to see them working together within their groups; erecting tents, preparing their evening meals, and washing their equipment. Their enthusiasm continued the second day, with all groups ready to walk again by 8.30am; no mean feat considering the lateness of the night before!  The accompanying staff thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, and were proud to accompany the amazing year 10 teams who were a credit to the school.  Thank you to Mr Brown, Mrs Keegan, Ms Marsh, and Ms Harknett for their support this weekend.
