Girls’ Games End of Term News

The Yr 6 girls have had a mixture of results this term and both teams have really stepped up their level of netball. The girls had two great wins against Chesham Prep and narrowly lost to Chandlings earlier on in the term. The Yr 5 teams also learnt a lot this term, the level of netball and the amount of fixtures have increased since Yr 4 and with this came a higher expectation from all the girls. Yr 5 have had a win against Chandlings, the B team drew to Spratton Hall and several close results against Winchester House, Bedford Modern and BM Prep. The Yr 5 A team also participated in 2 festivals this term.

Yr 4 and 3 have had an unlucky term with 4 of their fixtures cancelled due to the weather. Yr 4 finished 3rd in Bedford Modern festival and have some good results against Quinton House and Swanbourne. Yr 3 had two small fixtures against BM Prep and Bedford Modern\The Grove. It was a good for all girls to get experience of a netball fixture and use some of the things they have learnt in lessons in their matches. Both year groups have come on this term and really progressed with their netball skills.

Yr 5 and 6 were also given the opportunity to attend a Netball Super League match held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry and Yr 6 participated in a netball session led by a player from the WASPS Super League Netball team. Both experiences have enabled the girls to experience netball at elite level and I hope it has inspired some of the girls to participate in netball beyond school.

As always thank you to all the parents who have continued to support the girls come rain or shine. We look forward to tackling girls cricket and rounders next term and hopefully we will have better weather.
