This Summer 46 Year 6 pupils spent the week camping just outside Swanage. We left early Monday morning and arrived in glorious sunshine which stayed with us for the week.
We covered many activities including – Coasteering, Kayaking, Bushcraft, Raft Building just to name a few. Pupils discovered how to work on their own as well as a part of a team. All grew in confidence during the week and even learnt how to make their own lunches.
Many of the activities were sea based and I have to say it was great to see the Akeley pupils enjoying swimming and splashing around at the end of their activities. We had late nights and early starts but all in all it was a fantastic week.
I think the weather really helped this year and you just can’t beat camping under the stars. Hopefully the new Year 6 will fill all the places for other brilliant end of year trip.
I have to thank Miss Chapman, Miss Kandaros and Mr Coughlan for giving up their time to make this trip happen. Also thanks to Mr Peedell who popped to see us for a day and night whilst he was spending some time near by at his Mothers. We all enjoyed our groups and I know we had many great comments from the public and Land and Wave staff regards how well behaved our children were.
I look forward to the 2017 Land and Wave trip where I have even included a night at a Water Park.
