Mental Health and Outdoor Curriculum
What’s in the Woods of Akeley?
it has been shown that nature can majorly boost self-esteem and reduce social anxiety, as people build links with others during team building activities.
Mental health can be improved by activities such as gardening, growing food, conservation work and outdoor sports.
Tile House Mansion at Akeley Wood School runs regular Outdoor Learning lessons in the forest. There is a low ropes course and a wooden meeting circle, where all pupils gather for instructions and to reflect upon how they have developed skills such as resilience, team work and independence.
By introducing an Outdoor Curriculum to Tile House Mansion, Akeley Wood School has demonstrated that nature can truly improve your mental health and well-being.
