No ‘Set’ Homework Week

Last week, Tile House Mansion held a No ‘Set’ Homework week. This came about because of a suggestion by a Year 7 pupil; and comments made at a Parent Engagement Group last year. Instead of the normal homework set by teachers, pupils were asked to spend the time working on something of their own choice – both in terms of the subject matter and method of presentation. The staff and I have been overwhelmed by the variety, imagination and quality of the work. It has been so interesting to see what each child has decided to produce, when given the freedom to work without restriction. We have had models, blogs, creative writing, photo diaries, cakes, beautiful craft and art work, presentations, films, reviews of books, music and theatre shows and much, much more. Next week pupils will have the opportunity to share their work with their form and we will then  display as much of the work as possible.
