Students celebrate best ever A Level results
Sixth Form students from Akeley Wood School are celebrating another year of excellent A Level results with 48% of grades at A*/B and 81% at A*/C grade. Akeley is a non-selective school and our focus is on achieving the very best results each student is capable of. This is why our ‘Value Added’, that’s the achievement over and above students’ expected outcome, is so important to us. This year our VA was up by a further quarter of a grade.

His number one priority has been to improve student attainment and the strategies that he has put in place this past year have clearly paid dividends for the students. Numerous students achieved straight As including George McGuiness who has been awarded a place at his first choice university, Liverpool to read Economics and Business and Chloe Galsworthy who is off to Cardiff to read Psychology.

It is heart-warming and extremely satisfying to hear them excitedly talking with their peers as they celebrate getting into their first choice university or gaining a coveted place at a leading international employer. I am very proud to be the Principal of this great school. The staff are dedicated professionals who strive for excellence. I know that they are also proudly celebrating today. We are delighted to hear that so many students have secured places at their first-choice universities, to read competitive subjects such as Economics, History and Engineering. We wish them every success in their continued studies and future careers.”
