Team Evolution Race Series 2018 Reiteralm Austria

Ski Race Training Programme

Kayne Year 8
Kayne has recently completed the latest block of his ski race training programme, which took place at the academy in Austria. Here is an update on how things have been going for him:
At the Ambition Championships last week Kayne competed in Slalom and Giant Slalom races. In the Slalom, he achieved good first run times (with the 4th fastest), but he fell on his second run so didn’t achieve an overall position; however, his first run times helped improve his rankings!
In the Giant Slalom, Kayne came away with a silver and a bronze medal, which is excellent as this is his first year racing in the under 14 age group! In the Evolution Speed Series, where Kanye was completing in the Super-G races for the first time, he just missed podium position, finishing 4th.

Kayne improved his ranking across all disciplines and came home with 2 medals.

Zac Year 9
Zac has been busy racing already this year, racing at the Ambition Champs 2018 and the Team Evolution Race Series 2018, both taking place in Austria. Here is an update on how things have been going: The Ambition Champs 2018 took place in Hinterreit, Austria this year – with many of the best GBR racers participating.
Zac achieved great results with a 3rd place in the U14 Male Slalom (Ambition Cup). His 3rd place was from a combined time from 2 runs (Run 1 – 3rd, Run 2 – 2nd). This result should help to maintain his Snowsport England Alpine Development Squad place in 2018/2019.
In the U14 Slalom (Ambition Champs Cup), Zac fell in Run 1, however in Run 2 Zac achieved 3rd place, leaving a combined position of 8th (pending confirmed final rankings.
At the Giant Slalom races on Saturday, on Run 1 Zac took on the conditions and finished 2nd.
An amazing 4-day championships achievement overall.
After this, the Team Evolution Race Series 2018 took place in Reiteralm, Austria. And it was another two amazing days of great racing against the best in GBR. Zac took 2nd place in the Super-G race on the Tuesday, following up with two 3rd places on the Wednesday in the Slalom (overall 3rd combined).
A huge well done to Kayne and to Zac from all of us at Akeley!
