Translate and Enunciate
No Snakes No Ladders!
Year 7 French pupils have been enjoying playing the translation board game ‘No snakes no ladders’ enabling them to practise talking about their homes and local area. We play this game regularly, across a range of topics. In teams they throw the dice and decide together the correct translation of the sentence into French. The opponents’ then mark them against the sheet of correct translations. Sentences like ‘I would like to live by the seaside’ Je voudrais habite au bord de la mer were confidently answered. This is a highly competitive activity and gives lots of opportunities for students to speak French, improving pronunciation. Along with testing listening and reading skills too. A great and fun way to learn a language.
