U10 Rugby v Bedford Modern

This week started with all U10 pupils making the journey to play Netball & Football fixtures at Bedford Modern.

Always a difficult place to go as the level of sport is high but over recent years we have really held our own.

I was delighted with the results for the boys and again all the boys got to play in this fixture. The team work had improved which showed as the teams just didn’t give up. The boys worked hard to pass the ball and the Akeley sides showed they aren’t made up of individuals.

The results saw the A team win 4-1 and put in a real shift of energy and the passing was outstanding at times. What was really pleasing was how we defended and the team playing as a real unit. The B team lost 5-1 but the score didn’t reflect how well the team played. They were even 1-0 up at half time. Jasper was outstanding in goal but just couldn’t keep all the shots out. Bedford made a couple of changes that just change the balance of their team with their center forward scoring 4. Unlucky boys. The C team again, were so unlucky. They lost 3-2 in the last few minutes after having chances to win the game themselves. It was end to end stuff and all the boys again really enjoyed.

To finish – sausage and chips for match tea on a chilly afternoon. What more do these boys want. Well done to all three Akeley teams.
