U11 B V Swanbourne
On Wednesday 10th May the U11 B team faced a tall Swanbourne team. A big thank you must go out to the Year 5 girls (Amelia Mead and Poppy Terry and Lucy Brown) who stepped up to fill in, at the last moment, for a depleted U11 team. A good start as we won the toss and fielded first. The girls did a great job of limiting the opposition’s chances to gain any half rounders by getting to second post or through any no-balls; Amelia Mead bowled fantastically throughout the match, and deservingly got player of the match. However, Swanbourne had some strong batters and they clocked up lots of full rounders.
Innings 2 was a lot more successful and the girls won the second innings but unfortunately they couldn’t quite make up the difference from the first. There were a few lovely rounders scored but this is definitely something to work on as a few more were definitely needed. The girls started to work really well together and were able to get a lot of the Swanbourne team out; we got 8 Swanbourne players out versus them getting only 2 Akeley girls out.
A great effort girls; a few things to work on, but lots and lots of positives since our last game and much better fielding.
