U11 Rugby Festival

This week the U11 A rugby squad travelled the short distance to play in the Grove Festival.

It was a round robin festival with the two top teams playing a Final. The boys started really well with a 7 try win over Pitsford followed by a scrappy win over the Grove 4-3.

The Bedford Modern game was a real classic encounter and I have to say a hard hitting one. Akeley just lost 2-1 but I was delighted with their display but then in the last group game the boys dropped their levels and just got a 1-1 draw with Quinton. Luckily the boys had scored well during the games to get themselves in to the Final to play again – Bedford Modern. Again the boys picked themselves up to really battle but Bedford were just to strong in areas and ran out worthy winners.

The boys were delighted with their medals and it again showed when this group of boys are focussed they can mix with any school team. A big second term awaits the boys so I hope they keep making the progress they are and they get the breaks they deserve.

Sunday 20th November will big the biggest day for our rugby teams as U8, U9, U10 & U11 will be playing in the National Qualifiers at Wellingborough. Teams will be out the first week back after half term.
