Year 7 take on challenges at Adventure International
It was an early start for Year 7’s heading to Bude in Cornwall, for a week of challenges and pushing the boundaries, in water and at great heights. The journey down was smooth and swift in a very luxurious Heyfordian double decker. With just one stop at the services to stretch our legs.
Welcomed by the team of tutors on arrival, students were allocated their rooms which were comfortable and of a high standard. Situated in town positioned overlooking the beach, this self-contained centre enjoys its own high ropes, wall climbing and abseiling facility. With the beach and estuary on hand for surfing and kayaking.
The days were well planned as students rotated the various activities in small groups. With such fantastic instruction and guidance, the children were able to get immersed into all activities with confidence.
The centre, accommodating other schools was run as a tight ship. Meal times and activities ran to a schedule, prompted by the bell that rang twice for us. Three good meals a day started with cooked breakfast toast, fruit and cereal. During down time the tuck shop opened and students had the opportunity to play on the astro turf, basketball and or football, the staff adding their skills and taking on the challenge of students v staff! Evening activities included beach games, a talent show and a disco.
The last evening was a celebration of all that had been achieved. Students were awarded certificates for bravery, enthusiasm and wit! A delightful trip with a fantastic group of students. A pleasure to be invited to join and report on. We hope our parents enjoyed following our week on our brand new Trips Twitter page which aimed to keep you informed and content that the children were having a great time.
