Welcome to Akeley Wood School
A leading Nursery and Private Junior and Senior School between Buckingham and Milton Keynes
Education is about discovery; understanding what makes your child special, nurturing talents and helping them achieve their own success. Our independent day school can take your child from those formative early years through to sixth form and academic success. Join us at a forthcoming open morning to learn more.
Girls & Boys, Nursery to Sixth Form
We welcome girls and boys aged from 12 months in nursery to 18 years in sixth form. A co-ed school prepares your child for real life and equips them with the social skills they need to be confident at university and in the workplace.
Nursery & Pre School
A 51-week nursery for children aged 12 months +. Significant investment in the setting and facilities has created a wonderful environment for early learning and play. Qualified Early Years practitioners together with specialist teaching from our junior school gives your child the very best start.
Top of the Class
Our vibrant infant and junior school is set in acres of beautiful private grounds in Wicken village. A rural location means an abundance of safe space for play, sports fixtures, outdoor learning and our superb Forest School. Classrooms are ablaze with the impressive work of our happy pupils who are inspired by specialist teachers.
We value good manners and expect high standards of behaviour at our senior school. We believe these go hand-in-hand with a progressive and ambitious approach to teaching and learning, where pupils enjoy a rich tapestry of academic, cultural and social opportunities. Years 7 & 8 are based at Tile House Mansion, where there’s no rush to grow up too soon.
Sportsmanship & Competition
Girls and boys from Years 3 to 13 take part in over 200 competitive school fixtures each year.
We love what sport gives children and young people and have acres of space at each of our three campuses to train and compete. Both our junior and senior sites have a sports hall, astro turf and pitches.
Sixth Form: Rebooted
This year we have deconstructed the sixth form and rebuilt it, ready to ‘go live’ in September 2018. The changing education and economic landscape means we need to do things differently to prepare you for life post-18, whether that is on the well trodden path to university or striding along an unchartered route.
Hope you can join us.
