An adventure for today
An education for tomorrow
School, education, childhood is not just a journey to an imagined and hoped for future. It is an adventure your child is living right now.
It happens so fast, it’s over so quickly, it matters so much. That’s why it’s our job as educators to make school, education, childhood, an inspiring, enriching and rewarding experience - right when it is actually happening. Not just a set of key stages to grind through to a hoped for end.
At Akeley Wood School, we help your child discover their talents and interests. Help them grow their character. Develop courage and responsibility. And discover their place in the world.
In an inspiring, nurturing, open and inquisitive environment...
...with the very best facilities, diverse curriculum and supportive teachers. We set your child up to achieve their very best, both personally and academically. To go on out there into the wider world as an interested and interesting person. With the skills, knowledge and results they need to fulfil their dreams. Drawing on a childhood full of joy, curiosity and adventure.
Because a wondrous childhood makes for a wonderful life.
We believe your child’s today matters as much as their tomorrow. So at Akeley Wood we make education an adventure. Something remarkable, memorable and valuable forever.
We shape the interested and interesting people the world needs. Universities, employers - society as a whole – needs curious, independent thinkers, full of courage and responsibility. Our aim is to shape these people.

If your child has been allocated a secondary school place that doesn`t feel quite right, you are not alone — and it is not too late.
We know that finding the right setting for your child`s senior school years is one of the most important decisions you`ll make as a family. The right school should do more than deliver results. It should find out who your child is and help them become more of it.
At Akeley Wood we still have places available for Year 7 this September. Whether you are yet to find a school that offers the breadth of opportunity your child deserves, or you simply want to explore your options before making a final decision, we would love to welcome you in.
Come and see the school in action. Walk the corridors, ask the questions that matter to you and get a real feel for life here.

Fuelling Bright Minds — Year 10 Get a Masterclass in Nutrition
This week we welcomed Charlotte, a nutritionist from our catering partners at Lodestone House, to work with our Year 10 students as they kicked off their new topic on sugars.
The session explored the science behind how our bodies use different types of sugar, including the role of starches and natural sugars in sustaining energy throughout the day. Informative, relevant, and genuinely engaging. Then students got hands-on creating their own overnight oats, think wholesome carbs, honey and fresh raspberries. The message was simple and powerful: what you eat shapes how you think, focus and perform.
Real experts. Real skills. Real Relevance. This is what a typical week can look like. Come and experience it for yourself — book an open event at akeleywoodschool.co.uk/book-an-event

Today the Oracle Red Bull Racing STEMx programme came to Akeley Wood Junior School, and our children threw themselves into every moment.
They designed their own race cars, coded LEGO robots to follow a path, got hands-on changing a tyre on a real F1 car and even stepped in front of the camera to role play live media coverage with professional equipment.
Events like this are so close to our hearts. We believe every child deserves the chance to discover what lights them up, and sometimes it takes something a little unexpected to spark that moment. Bringing the world of Formula One engineering into our classrooms is just one of the ways we try to make that happen.
Watch out, Red Bull Racing — there`s some serious talent coming your way!

A wonderful World Book Day story at Akeley Wood Junior School.
One of our pupils arrived wearing his grandfather’s rally racing suit — once worn by Paul Easter, co-driver to rally legend Timo Mäkinen and featured in books about the famous Monte Carlo Rally.
Inspired by his grandfather, he already dreams of becoming an engineer. For now, he’s getting started by building increasingly complex Lego race cars.
At Akeley Wood, we love nurturing the passions that spark curiosity and carry inspiration straight back into learning.
Sometimes the best stories are the ones still being written.

Akeley Wood School entered an important new chapter this year as part of Blenheim Schools.
Vanessa Conlan, Executive Head of Akeley Wood School, reflects:
“Since becoming part of Blenheim Schools, we have been struck by the ambition and belief in our school community. At a time when many schools are navigating uncertainty, being part of a group committed to long-term investment and high standards places us in a position of strength and confidence.
We are excited about what lies ahead.”
We look forward to sharing more about this next phase in the coming weeks.

Stories came to life across Akeley Wood today for World Book Day. The Junior School did many activities with storytelling and older students read with the younger students. At the Senior school, the students read a short story in a day throughout their classes and had the opportunity to dress up in character while hosting a used book sale. Happy World Book Day!
Outdoor learning is foundational to learning across Akeley Wood School and children from Nursery through to Key Stage 3 engage with nature in our beautiful grounds. Outdoor learning facilitates problem solving, critical thinking and teamwork which grows interesting and interested people.
