We’re delighted to welcome prospective families to our Junior School Open Day on Tuesday 20 May, from 9.00am to 12.00pm at Akeley Wood Junior School.
Whether you're exploring options for Reception or another entry point in our Junior School, this is the perfect opportunity to experience the unique blend of warmth, creativity and ambition that defines the Akeley Wood experience.
Our Open Day is designed to give you a true insight into everyday life at Akeley. You’ll enjoy a guided tour of our beautiful, countryside campus, explore our bright, engaging classrooms and specialist facilities, and see how our values-led curriculum nurtures both character and academic growth.
Throughout the morning, you’ll also have the opportunity to:

At Akeley Wood Nursery, we provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children build essential early learning skills through play, exploration and creativity. With specialist-led sessions in French, Music and Forest School, as well as a structured pre-school experience in our Butterflies group, we ensure every child develops the confidence, independence and curiosity needed for a smooth transition to school.

Welcome Events for New Joiners
We want every new student to feel confident and excited about joining Akeley Wood. Our summer term events are designed to help students and families acclimatise, connect with their peers and teachers, and experience life at Akeley before the new school year begins.
From Move Up Day, where students spend time with their new cohort and teachers, to our Year 6 to 7 Transition Disco, which offers a fun and informal way to make new friends, these events are tailored to ease the transition. Families can also attend our Year 6 Joiners Information Evening to hear from key staff and get answers to any final questions.
And of course, there’s Woodfest—our signature summer celebration bringing the whole school community together with live music, performances and activities, giving new joiners a taste of the vibrant Akeley spirit!
