The Junior School, Wicken Park

based at our Wicken Park grounds in rural Northamptonshire, near Milton Keynes. It is a fantastic start to formal education, combining a caring community environment with high-quality classroom teachers and subject specialists, plus outdoor space that has to be seen to be believed.

KS1 Class Teacher

We are seeking to appoint a full time Class Teacher for Key Stage 1 (Years 1-2) from September 2022. This role is based at our Wicken Park campus in rural Northamptonshire, near Milton Keynes.

The successful candidates will be committed to supporting children to achieve the very best they can through an engaging and inspiring curriculum. They will be innovative and creative in their teaching and be a strong team player.

Teaching Assistant(s)

We are seeking several energetic, flexible, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join our dynamic and supportive team to encourage our students to achieve more than they imagine possible across all curriculum subjects.  The successful candidate will demonstrate personal integrity, honesty, energy, stamina, and enthusiasm.

The roles include those focussed on providing in-class support whilst some will involve pre-teaching as well as delivering bespoke programmes as directed by the Head of Learning Support (SENDCo). Lack of experience is not a barrier, but a willingness to learn is vital! If you have experience in supporting neurodivergent students, you will be particularly welcome to apply. We have several students with learning differences such as high functioning autism, ADHD & / or dyslexia. This role reports to the SENDCo.

Science Technician

We are seeking a full-time energetic, flexible, and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our dynamic Science Department. The successful candidate will demonstrate personal integrity, honesty, energy, stamina and enthusiasm.

The main responsibility of this role is to provide technical support to the science teachers, contributing to the students’ learning experience by assisting with the preparation of materials and apparatus for practical work whilst adhering to all legislative requirements in relation to Health and Safety.

Cover Supervisor

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our team.  Inevitably from time-to-time teaching staff are absent from school or are unable to teach some of their lessons. When cover is required, we usually use other teaching staff who have a non-contact period to cover other classes. The role of the cover supervisor would be to provide cover for absent teachers by supervising their classes and at times their staff duties. The successful candidate will demonstrate personal integrity, honesty, energy, stamina, and enthusiasm.

This role reports to the Assistant Head, Academic.

Minibus Driver

We are seeking a reliable and trustworthy minibus driver to join our efficient and friendly Transport Team. This individual would be providing occasional driving support to our transport team at Akeley Wood School during staff absences or peaks in school activity.

The Minibus Driver would be responsible for transporting students on our Home to School service, transport to/from school sports fixtures or for school trips as required. There may also be a requirement to shuttle vehicles to/from our maintenance provider and provide student and sometimes staff transport between our three Akeley Wood School campuses.

Applicants must:

  • Have held a full manual UK driving licence for a minimum of 24 months
  • Hold a minimum D1 PCV category licence without 101 restriction code or full category D PCV with not more than 3 points
  • Hold a current Driver CPC qualification and card
  • Hold a digital tachograph card

This role reports to the Transport Manager

Art and Design Technology Technician

We are seeking to recruit a full time, term-time only, Art & DT Technician to provide exemplary lesson preparation and in-classroom support to the Art & DT Departments. The successful candidate will contribute to students’ learning experience, whilst adhering to all legislative requirements in relation to Health & Safety. The Technician will work with both departments demonstrating initiative and proactivity to support both Heads of Departments and teaching staff.

The right candidate will be energetic, flexible, enthusiastic and demonstrate personal integrity and honesty. This role reports to the Head of Art & the Head of DT.
