Last month eight of our students travelled to Bexleyheath in Kent for their first day of training to become Anti-Bullying Ambassadors through the Diana Award. The Diana Award is a charity set up in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, with the belief that young people have the power to change the world, and a mission to empower young people to lead that change.

Erin and Will in year 7, Amelie and Johanna in year 8, Liam in Year 8, Lewis and Giankarlo in Year 9 and Leroy in year 10, who is the Head Anti-Bullying Ambassador for Akeley Wood Senior School, are the first group to be trained, but we intend to build the ambassador group throughout the coming months and years.

The training programme is offered to Primary and Secondary schools across the UK, and is a student-led initiative designed to equip students and staff with the tools to tackle bullying head on, strengthen the school’s approach to bullying and create a safer and kinder school community. Our students who undertake this training will lead our own in-school anti-bullying campaign as Anti-Bullying Ambassadors at Akeley Wood.
