Welcome to Akeley Wood School
A leading Nursery and Private Junior and Senior School between Buckingham and Milton Keynes
Education is about discovery; understanding what makes your child special, nurturing talents and helping them achieve their own success. Our independent day school can take your child from those formative early years through to sixth form and academic success.
Throughout 2020, Akeley Wood School provided certainty, consistency and structure at a time when all were hard to come by. Now, as we begin 2021 in lockdown, our Online Learning provisions will ensure that pupils receive continuous and uninterrupted education.
Our Admissions department also remains virtually open, ready to talk to you about your child’s educational future.
We hope that you enjoy watching the short film which gives a glimpse of Akeley Wood school life!
Girls & Boys, Nursery to Sixth Form
We welcome girls and boys aged from 12 months in nursery to 18 years in sixth form. A co-ed school prepares your child for real life and equips them with the social skills they need to be confident at university and in the workplace.
Nursery & Pre School
A 51-week nursery for children aged 12 months +. Significant investment in the setting and facilities has created a wonderful environment for early learning and play. Qualified Early Years practitioners, including qualified teachers, together with specialist teaching from our Junior School gives your child the very best start.
Our vibrant infant and Junior School is set in acres of beautiful private grounds at Wicken Park. A rural location means an abundance of safe space for play, sports fixtures, outdoor learning and our superb Forest School. Classrooms are ablaze with the impressive work of our happy pupils who are inspired by specialist teachers in everything from robotics to Food Technology!
We value good manners and expect high standards of behaviour at our senior school. We believe these go hand-in-hand with a progressive and adventurous approach to teaching and learning, where pupils enjoy a rich tapestry of academic, cultural and social opportunities. Years 7 & 8 are based at Tile House Mansion, where there’s no rush to grow up too soon.
Sportsmanship & Competition
Girls and boys from Years 3 to 13 take part in over 200 competitive school fixtures each year.
We love what sport gives children and young people and have acres of space at each of our three campuses to train and compete. Both our junior and senior sites have a sports hall, astro turf and pitches.
The changing education and economic landscape means we need to do things differently to prepare you for life post-18, whether that is on the well trodden path to university, entering an apprenticeship of the world of work. We offer a huge range of both A level and BTEC/CTEC options and tailor option blocks to suit your choices as far as humanly possible!
Hope you can join us.
