Year 6 hit Dorset!

Our Year 6 student Izzy has written this fantastic sum up of the trip that year 6 took to Dorset before Half Term. Thanks to Izzy for bringing it to life for us.

‘From Monday 16th May to Friday 21st May, me and the rest of Year Six went on an unforgettable trip to Land and Wave. Everybody loved Land and Wave. “I really enjoyed it and I hope I can do it again,” said Joshua B. “The tents were spacious, and you could fit a lot of luggage and people in it. I felt at home when I was in my tent,” said Emma S.

We all arrived at school at 7am,though none of us were happy about it, and were given our Leavers hoodies and handed in our money and medication. After that, we all piled into the coach and drove to Dorset, which was four hours away. When we arrived, we were shown our various tents and ate our lunch. During the afternoon, we made slingshots and half of us were firing tennis balls, while the other half of us ran around trying to catch them. That first night in the tent – I don`t think most people got much sleep! We were all clowning around and talking most of the night. But we were all refreshed and ready for the beach the next day.

In the morning, we went in three groups on the jumbo paddleboard and played games and leapt off it. We had packed lunches provided by Land and Wave, and after lunch we did team building. We all built rafts and sailed around on them, and it was great fun. “The beach was very fun, and I never wanted it to end. My personal favourite was the paddle boarding, as we got to push each other in,” said Archie W. After dinner, we all went on an incredible slip and slide set up by the instructors which was downhill. We all went as fast as we could, but Emma out-slid everyone by far! “The slip and slide was very exciting and the jet ski inflatables some of us used to slide on were very fun,” reports Aubrey T.

Another fun activity was a hike to Corfe Castle, and a village nearby. We all walked through a field (with plenty of moo-dy inhabitants!) and into the village. Everybody who had brought money went into the nearby sweetshop – and came out with considerably less money! “The walk was very fun, and I got some things for my family – and also for me!” said Arabella C. One more interesting activity was the water park. We all went on two different parts of the inflatable park and ran around trying to push each other in and climb across inflatables. There were giant slides, and also a trampoline! “It was very fun pushing people in and having battles,” said Harriet S.

Land and Wave also provided excellent food and instructors. “The food was very good, and I loved the burgers,” said Loek O. “The instructors were adventurous and made every activity exciting,” reports Florence F.
